62 extractive question-and-answer pairs built from Part II.- Imperial Tables, Vol. 1 , India, published by censusindia.gov.in. Every answer is a verbatim span of text the source prints, and each row carries the passage it sits in, its offset in that passage, the source quote, the page and the location in the document, so any row can be checked against the original. 17 of the 62 pairs (27.4%) are explanatory questions and 45 restate a figure. 91.94% of rows pass the corpus quality gate.

| What was the reason for making some changes in the arrangement of the tables? | in order that they may be as relevant as possible to the treatment of their contents in the Report Volume. | Preface. The arrangement of this volume differs a little from that of the cOITespond- ing volume in 1921. In that volume figures for cities were given separately at the end. This time each table that has been compiled separately for cities follows the general table to which it relates.. The figures of the cities table are, of course, also included under the relevant head in the general table. The fly-leaf of each table indicates the table in 1921 to which the 1931 table corresponds in every case in which the numerical order differs; some rearrangement has been made in the tables in order that they may be as relevant as possible to the treatment of their contents in the Report Volume. | 586 | relationship | 0.970 | The fly-leaf of each table indicates the table in 1921 to which the 1931 table corresponds in every case in which the numerical order differs; some rearrangement has been made in the tables in order that they may be as relevant as possible to the treatment of their contents in the Report Volume. | 5 | page=5,block=0 | 0.700 | |

| What information is provided in Appendix (iv)? | the area and population of provinces when redistributed with Orissa and Sind as separate units | Table XII, as will be seen from the Table of Contents, does not appear in this volume; the results obtained were so unsatisfactory that it has not been printed as an Imperial Table, the figures have however been compiled and will be found given in Chapter IX of the Report. An appendix (iv) has been added to show the area and population of provinces when redistributed with Orissa and Sind as separate units instead of as part of the provinces in which they were incorporated a.t the date of the census. . I t should be noted that all the figures in the main Tables are determined by the actual distribution of population as it happened to be found on the night on which the census was taken, irrespective of its prevailing distribution or of abnor- malities caused by seasonal, temporary or fortuitous movements. | 314 | summary | 0.930 | An appendix (iv) has been added to show the area and population of provinces when redistributed with Orissa and Sind as separate units instead of as part of the provinces in which they were incorporated a.t the date of the census. | 5 | page=5,block=0 | ||
